Hyaluronic Acid Fillers - Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane
These dermal fillers were the first cosmetic dermal fillers and are made of non-animal based Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a is a natural substance that already occurs in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. These crystal clear gels are biodegradable and fully biocompatible. Hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, which helps to maintain its volume and density over time.
Q. Are these hyaluronic fillers safe?
A. Yes. Yes. These types of fillers have been used successfully since 1996 worldwide. There is limited risk of allergic reaction. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or under 18, you shouldn't use these types of dermal fillers.
Q. How long does the effect last?
A. These types of fillers are proven to provide long lasting results. Depending on where the dermal fillers is injected, the results can last up to 1 year, although 6-8 months is typical. The product will gradually disappear from the body without a trace.
Radiesse
Radiesse is a safe, next-generation cosmetic dermal filler that lasts longer than the former leading filler. Numerous medical studies have shown that Radiesse is a safe, longer lasting treatment to fill and correct smile lines, Nasolabial folds, and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.
Q. What is Radiesse made from?
A. It is made of unique calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a minimally invasive procedure. Over time, your body absorbs the gel carrier, while collagen starts to grow and infiltrate the area, replacing the gel with your own natural tissue.
Q. How long do the effects of Radiesse last?
A. Although treatment effects will differ from person to person, Radiesse has been proven to last up to a year. Also, over time, Radiesse will stimulate your body to make new collagen.
Sculptra
Sculptra Aesthetic is a new type of facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen. It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen.
Q. What is Sculptra made from?
A. The main ingredient is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
On average, three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection sessions and the number of injections per session vary from person to person.
Q. How long will the results last?
A. The results obtained with Sculptra can last up to two years.
Dermal Fillers - General FAQs
Q. Do the injections hurt?
A. Dermal fillers are injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. To assure your comfort during the procedure, a topical or local anesthetic may be used.
Q. What are the possible side effects?
A. The most common side effects are redness, swelling, and bruising. These side effects are generally mild and last a short time. All efforts will be made to decrease any discomfort and side effects. Most clients feel comfortable going back to their normal activities immediately after treatment.
